Terms of Service

Effective 4 August 2026 · [registered legal business name — pending]

These terms are the agreement between you and [registered legal business name — pending] for the use of QMetra. By creating an account or using the service you accept them.

1. The service

QMetra lets you ask a question, answer questions asked by others, and see the raw anonymous count for a question once you have answered it. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and we will try to give reasonable notice of material changes.

2. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old to hold an account.
  • You must give accurate registration details, including a mobile number you control, and keep them current.
  • One person is expected to hold one account. Creating multiple accounts to influence a result is a breach of these terms.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your password secure.

3. Verification

Registration is subject to automated checks: an IP-reputation check, a one-time SMS passcode, a device signal and a human challenge. We may refuse registration or suspend an account if these checks fail or if we reasonably suspect manipulation. Connections through VPNs, proxies, datacentres or Tor are refused at sign-up.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Manipulate results — by multiple accounts, automation, scripted voting, purchased accounts or coordinated inauthentic behaviour.
  • Post questions that are unlawful, defame or harass an identifiable person, incite violence, or contain sexual content involving minors.
  • Post content that infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy.
  • Probe, scan, overload or otherwise interfere with the service or its infrastructure, or attempt to de-anonymise voters.
  • Scrape or bulk-extract content except as permitted by our robots directives.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of the questions you publish. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display and distribute that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the service. You confirm you have the rights needed to grant this.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that breach these terms. Questions are published on submission and moderated afterwards.

6. Votes and results

Votes are final; there is no edit or withdrawal. Because a vote carries no link to your account, an individual vote cannot be identified or removed after the fact.

Results are raw counts of verified responses. They are not a scientific poll: there is no sampling frame, no weighting and no extrapolation to any wider population. Where a question has too few responses to publish safely, the split is withheld until a minimum is reached.

How results may be described

If you republish a QMetra result you must describe it as a count of verified responses — not as a count of people, not as a representative survey, and not as a poll of any named population. What a count can and cannot claim is set out on our home page.

7. Text messages

Account verification uses SMS. The programme, message frequency, cost and opt-out are described in the Messaging Terms, which form part of these terms.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we handle it, and forms part of these terms.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, or where required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive it.

10. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that results are free of manipulation by a determined and well-resourced actor, and we say so plainly rather than in the abstract.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, [registered legal business name — pending] will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The effective date above will change, and for material changes we will notify registered users by email. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
